Busta Rhymes headlines at the Royal Albert Hall for Orange RockCorp. The multi-platinum recording artist is a breath of fresh air when it comes to his performance and rock’s the crowd with his mass of energy.

An estimated 5,000 volunteers earned tickets to the event at Albert Hall by investing 20,000 hours of their time into regenerating their neighbouring areas, supporting 23 community organisations. The range of projects included volunteering services to improve environment, schools and playgrounds, park regeneration, food distribution to the poor and homelessness and many more.

Rock Corp Background

Originally based in New York and LA, the Rock Corp was founded by Stephen Greene (CEO), Grady Lee (COO), movie and video director Chris Robinson, Haley Moffett, Paul Hunter, Toby Garrett and Noel Eisenberg in 2003. Following the footsteps of Orlando based charity GreenBucks, Rock Corp encourages volunteerism in young people (13-24 yr olds) to clean up areas of various towns and cities rewarding them with free concert tickets.

The charity organisation merged with Orange (a European telecom service operator) in 2008 expanding their support of voluntary projects to the UK.

Food For Thought
Overall a great idea and a brilliant way for people to get involved with their local area. It demonstrates a way in which young people can proactively help to change the society they live in. And the best thing is no experience is needed and anyone can help. So if you were one of the people reading this who missed out? Make sure you sign up for the next one.
